Ravenswood Garden Wedding | Maddi & Stephen
Maddi and Stephen’s Ravenswood garden wedding took place on the banks of the Murray River and it was attended by their family and friends, including some who traveled down from Kalgoorlie.
They had chosen this spot as it was close to where the couple were building their first home. The weather was perfect and the yard was set out with all the wedding decorations including a red carpet between the rows of chairs, as well as a white arbor. The back verandah was decorated with balloons, party lights and a jute box cranking out their favourite songs.
The final touches were being attended to and when I arrived, the makeup artists and hair stylists were just starting on Maddi and her bridesmaids, while Stephen and his groomsmen were adopting a more laid back approach…even finding time to decorate Stephen’s dad’s boat that was moored at the jetty on the river.
Colour was the order of the day, with the bridesmaids in their brightly coloured dresses, while the guys all wore matching pants, shirts and vests but each with a different coloured tie. The 4 tiered wedding cake was adorned with brightly coloured flowers, too.
With all in readiness for the service to commence, the guests assembled at the bottom of the garden. The bridesmaids then made their way to join the groom and his groomsmen, while Maddi walked with her parents to the top of the red carpet, where she was met by Stephen. Their elder twins, Taj and Quinne, sprinkled rose petals as the couple approached the celebrant.
During the ceremony, a candle was lit in honour of Stephen’s late grandfather. Maddi and Stephen exchanged vows, rings, shared their first kiss, signed the marriage certificate and toasted their union. Their children also received their own copy of the marriage certificate as a keepsake from the day.
The group photo was followed by the formal family photos, bridal party photos, then the bride and groom with their children.
With the reception about to start, the bride and groom cut the cake and then danced their first dance, which kicked off the evening’s festivities.
Everyone had a fantastic time and it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in Maddi and Stephen’s special day.
